Comprehensive Eye Examination

Good vision requires good eye health. Elevate your eye health at Dynamic Vision Kevern Pappin Optometrists with our comprehensive consultation. Some eye conditions have no symptoms in the early stages; it is thus imperative to detect them early to avoid vision loss.

Beyond identifying early signs of eye conditions and vision assessment, an eye test can signal at your overall well-being, spotlighting anomalies stemming from underlying issues.

We advise undergoing an in-depth assessment every 12 to 24 months. However, for those above 60 or with existing conditions like diabetes or a familial history of vision impairment, annual exams are strongly recommended.

What is the eye exam journey?

While your exam will be tailored to your unique needs and medical background, we’ll begin by understanding your and your family’s health lineage. Our adept optometrists will delve into any health concerns or symptoms you’ve been facing, such as vision changes or recurrent headaches.

During your examination, you may undergo:

  • Vision Test & refraction: To gauge the clarity of each eye’s vision, lenses and a computerised screen are employed to test each eye. The optometrist will determine if visual aids like glasses or contact lenses are needed. For kids, a cycloplegic refraction may be needed to relax the eye muscles.
  • Binocular status evaluation & motilities: Even when your vision is perfect, the eye muscles may affect the comfort of your visual system. This part of the test involves testing the alignment of the eye muscles, as well as how well they work together. These skills are important in reading, depth perception & and eye coordination.
  • Anterior eye assessment: The optometrist will view the anterior structures of the eye by using a slit lamp. An obstruction or abnormality of the anterior structures can influence how light enters the eye and, consequently, your vision. It can also influence the comfort of your eyes, such as dry eyes or itchy eyes. For complex corneal conditions (such as keratoconus), a corneal topography can be performed to measure the curvature of the cornea.
  • Posterior eye assessment: The optometrist will assess your posterior eye health by employing the following technology: ophthalmoscopy/fundus photography & optical coherence tomography. They will be able to see a detailed view of your eye’s interior, examining structures like the retina, optic nerve head, and retinal blood vessels.
  • Pupil-dilating eye drops may be used for a clearer view.

Diabetic retinopathy screening can identify if you have adequate control of your glycaemic level (blood sugar level).

Glaucoma screening can identify or assess the risk for glaucoma by measuring eye pressure, as well as measuring the thickness of the retina. Early detection is crucial since untreated glaucoma can lead to total vision loss.

Post-assessment, our optometrists will present a thorough overview of your eye health. They’ll elucidate any prescriptions and recommendations.

For optimal results, come prepared: Bring your existing eyewear and note any recent eye-related symptoms.
