Using fundus photography & optical coherence tomography, we are able to monitor your diabetic eye health. Diabetic retinopathy occurs in patients who have diabetes, often when the patient has been diabetic for a long time or when sugar levels are not well controlled.
Long term poor glycaemic control (blood sugar) causes the wall of your retinal blood vessels to become weak & get damaged. They can cause bleeding on your retina, as well as swelling of your retina. Further complications can lead to glaucoma, retinal detachment and macular oedema. These have the potential to cause permanent vision loss.
